This is a new blog by me, really just for me. I have a lot of ideas and opinions on technology and its implications on the world and on culture. I would love for people to read, but at the end of the day, this is all kind of therapeutic in a sense.

So why do it if no one needs to read it? Well, I could say it's because I am not vain. That would be a lie, because then this blog wouldn't be public... The real reason is that you can't improve if you don't try. Everyone online now seems to have a product that is almost perfect from the get-go. Amateur on YouTube now means you have a $2,000 Sony Camera with two studio lights. Influence online means you have a large social media presence and you blog or write for the extra revenue. This isn't meant to sound spiteful. In fact, don't hate the player, hate the game—and currently, there are a lot of good players in a game many people don't like. So why not just write and see where it takes me? I currently have a YouTube channel where I am trying to post more. But other than that, I don't have any other social media (for now). That alone is a topic on its own.

So what is up with the name "Terminal Eighty"? Well, I love computers and got really into Linux in college, hence my affinity for the terminal. Then "eighty" is just 80 spelled out, and Port 80 is the port on a computer through which external internet traffic flows. So it all just connects together. On top of that, I thought it sounded cool and futuristic. I like clean and minimal as much as the next person, but I love the terminal green text of the early internet age of computers. The first thing that comes to mind for me isn't The Matrix or even an old terminal, but The Fairly OddParents episode: "Information Stupor Highway."

I mean, watching Timmy literally fly around the wires of the internet was honestly quite surreal to watch in the 2000s on my family room TV. So the wonderful terminal green will always be with me as an identity for technological prowess, speed, and wonder—even if it basically is the Spotify logo.

Anyways, that's how I wanted to introduce myself. I really hope you enjoy my writing as much as I enjoy writing this stuff myself. Also, please reach out (method of contact still a little TBD)! I love being able to talk with like-minded people about various topics. If you disagree, let me know your thoughts (kindly) as it's always good to have various perspectives.

Logging off, for now.
